There exist many types of RCCB components in the market.Regardless,they all comprise of similar building
blocks internally.Each RCCB typically has three blocks:detection,amplification,and execution unit.
1.Detection.Current sensors detect and measure the current leaked and issue warning signals once the
leakage current exceed certain pre-set threshold.
2.Amplification.Quite often,the leakage current is very small.As such,it often has to be amplified in order for
the detection element to recognize the "leak"as well as to measure the extent of the leak.Amplification is
carried out by either mechanical or electronic means depending on the design approach taken by the RCCB.
3.Execution:Upon receiving of leakage signal beyond the pre-set threshold,the SCR changes from OFF-state
to ON-state.The main coil is energized and the main switch subsequently changes from Closed-state to Open-
state,thereby turning off the power supply.
JJM offers a complete solution for the RCCB application.A typical solution includes anti-surge varistors (MOVs)
which is populated at the AC input,either high-voltage rectifier diode(Diode)or rectifier bridge(Bridge)for AC
rectification,transient voltage suppressor(TVS)that protects against the over-voltage disturbance on the
input AC-line,controller IC (IC)which oversees the overall operation of RCCB application circuit,execution
unit(SCR),etc.
